Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss electric vehicle policy and 2030 Target of reducing Carbon Emissions by 51%

The Joint Committee Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 13 July, to discuss electric vehicle policy in the context of reducing Carbon Emissions by 51 per cent by 2030.

The meeting at 12.30pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House will hear from:

·       Pierpaolo Cazzola, International Transport Forum, OECD;

·       Dr Brian Caulfield, Associate Professor, Trinity College Dublin; and

·       Dr Hannah Daly, University College Cork.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “This meeting on electric vehicle policy is part of the Committee’s sector by sector discussions with key stakeholders on Ireland’s target to reduce carbon emissions by 51 per cent by 2030. We look forward to hearing from our stakeholders how EVs can contribute to achieving our emission reduction targets and other desirable outcomes.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
