Oireachtas Committee examines Strand 1 of the Good Friday Agreement

The Committee will meet with Mr John McCallister, former MLA, UUP, NI21 & Independent, Ms Anna Mercer, Public Affair Consultant, Stratagem, and Professor Jon Tonge, Professor of Politics, University of Liverpool.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Fergus O’Dowd TD said: “The Committee will get to discuss Strand 1 of the Good Friday Agreement, which allowed for the formation of the Assembly and the Executive, the main institutions of the devolved government in Northern Ireland.

We hope to discuss the formation and history of the Agreement and the Institutions, but also the topics of institutional reform, petitions of concern, designation amongst others.”
