Joint Oireachtas Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media to meet with representatives from the hospitality and tourism sector

The Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media will meet in 2 sessions tomorrow, Wednesday, 25 May with representatives from the hospitality and tourism sector to discuss working conditions and skills shortages.

The Committee will hear submissions from representatives from:

Session 1

·       The Licensed Vintners Federation

·       Vintners’ Federation of Ireland

Session 2

·       Officials from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 1:30pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Niamh Smyth said: "The Committee is looking forward to continuing our analysis of the impacts that the current skills shortages and working conditions are having on the sector. It is vital that we receive the insights from the representatives on these issues, and we encourage the industry to suggest possible solutions that can be initiated to alleviate these pressures."

The Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
