The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement chaired by Deputy Fergus O'Dowd will meet on Thursday October 6th to resume its series of meetings with the architects of the Good Friday Agreement.
Lord (John) Alderdice will address the meeting which will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 13:30-16:30.
Lord Alderice is a former Leader of the Alliance Party former Speaker in the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “We look forward to hearing from Lord Alderdice as we resume our discussions with Architects of the Good Friday Agreement.”
“Last week we had an engaging with discussion with former Deputy First Minister and SDLP leader Mark Durkan.”
“We welcome the opportunity to hear from Lord Alderice and his learnings as he led the Alliance Party from 1987 through to the negotiation of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.”
The Committee will continue to meet with a range of people involved in the negotiations, including the politicians involved, diplomats and civil servants in the coming term.
