The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 June, to resume discussions on the Israeli Bond Programme.
The meeting at 3:30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from:
- Dr Munir Nuseibah, Professor of International Law and head of the Human Rights Clinic at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem;
- Ms Helen Mahoney and Mr Sean Marmion from the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Mairéad Farrell said: “Following our engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland last week on the role the Bank has in the sale of Israeli Bonds Programme, the Committee has invited legal and academic representatives to respond to the position outlined by the Governor, Mr Gabriel Makhlouf.
“The Committee looks forward to hearing from Dr Nuseibah, Ms Mahoney and Mr Marmion on Ireland’s obligations under the UN Genocide Convention that are consistent with international law and membership of the European Union and United Nations.”
The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, and Taoiseach has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
