Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Subsidy.

Mr. Lemass

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the amount of subsidy which would be required in a full financial year to offset an increase of 2½d. per lb. on butter.

On the basis of consumption during the 12 months ended 30th June, 1956, the amount of subsidy which would be required in a full financial year to offset an increase of 2½d. per lb. in the price of creamery butter would be £893,300.
