The Seanad Public Consultation Committee was established as part of new procedures to open access to Seanad Éireann and its work.
The Committee invites submissions from members of the public and interest groups on specific issues and holds public hearings in the Seanad Chamber. The Committee then issues a report.
The orders of reference of the Seanad Public Consultation Committee were agreed to by Seanad Éireann on 7 December 2021 and amended on 14 December 2022, 22 March 2023 and 7 December 2023.
