Vol. 38 No. 16

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take up in connection with the Estimates for Public Services, Vote 45 (Office of the Minister for Education). At the conclusion of that Estimate we propose to take up No. 4 on the Order Paper—Local Elections and Meetings (Postponement) Bill. We do not propose to interrupt public business at nine o'clock for the purpose of taking private business.

Could the President facilitate the taking of the Private Bill in my name—the Local Government (Dublin) Bill? It has been down on the Order Paper for some time, and its object is to enable additions to be made to the Poor Law Commissioners so that when the present Commissioners go on holiday, as they will, the administration of relief will not cease in Dublin.

I am afraid I could not give an answer until we have first disposed of the finance business and other important Government measures.

Perhaps the President is not aware of the purpose of the Bill. It is to enable additional members to be elected as Poor Law Commissioners so that when the present members will be on holiday there will still be a quorum to administer relief.

I will consider the matter.
