Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Cork.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state (1) the number of persons registered at the Cork Employment Exchange from the 1st January, 1931, to the 31st December, 1931, or for the nearest period to these dates for which figures are available; and (2) the total amount paid in unemployment insurance benefit in Cork City for the year ended December 31st, 1931?

The average number of persons registered at the Cork Employment Exchange in each week of the calendar year 1931 was 3,876. The total amount paid in unemployment insurance benefit during the same year was £71,307.
