Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Financial Assistance For Quarry Work.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amounts of the (1) grants, (2) loans from State funds and (3) State guarantees in respect of other loans, granted to the Carrick-on-Suir Slate Quarry since the 1st January, 1928, and if he will state the total amount of loans still outstanding.

Grants totalling £2,250 and a guarantee under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts in respect of a loan of £4,500 were given to the Carrick Slate Quarry Co., Ltd., since the 1st January, 1928. No loans from State funds were made. The amount of the guaranteed loan outstanding is £4,000.

What is the position of this undertaking at the present time?

It is closed down.

Is it wound up?

We have put in a receiver.

Is it the receiver's intention to close down the enterprise altogether or to carry it on with a view to refloating it?

He is disposing of the assets.

And he will close it up?
