Vol. 61 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices Fetched by Old Cows.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that representatives of cow-testing associations in County Cork have purchased from farmers for transfer to the Roscrea factory old uneconomic cows at sums as low as 10/- each, and whether in view of the hardships and loss involved to the farmers concerned he will have the matter investigated with a view to the payment to such farmers of the guaranteed price of £2 10s. per cow.

I am not aware that dealings of the nature alleged took place. If the Deputy will supply particulars of the cases where such dealings are stated to have been carried on, I will have the cases specially investigated.
