Vol. 85 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Temporary Housing Accommodation.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state if, and when, it is proposed to give the City Manager powers to acquire temporary accommodation for persons who may suffer damage or loss of their homes through buildings falling or being knocked down through any cause.

Proposals of this nature are receiving close attention at present. Any powers which may be conferred will be of an emergency nature and extend only to the provision of temporary accommodation for persons whose homes are rendered uninhabitable by bombing from the air.

Mr. Byrne

Am I to understand that the City Manager will get the powers that he requires in the event of any accident happening?

For dealing with cases arising from that specific cause.
