Vol. 180 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Details of Dublin Airport Constructional Work.

18.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power why no details in relation to (a) sub-head H.2, Constructional Works including furnishings of buildings—Shannon Airport £512,000, (b) sub-head H.3, Constructional Works including furnishings of buildings—Dublin Airport £370,000, (c) sub-head H.4, Constructional Works including furnishings of buildings—Cork Airport £450,000, and (d) sub-head I.2, Fuel, Water, Light and Cleaning—Shannon Airport, Etc., are given in the Estimates for the Department of Transport and Power set out in the Book of Estimates for 1960-61.

The nature of the services provided for under each of the subheads referred to in the question is already indicated in the title to each subhead in Part II of the Estimates, i.e. Subheads H.2 (Shannon), H.3 (Dublin), H.4 (Cork), "Constructional

Works including furnishing of buildings," and Subhead I.2, "Fuel, Water, Light and Cleaning—Shannon etc." These subheads are shown under a general heading, "Airports."

This method of presentation was adopted because the total under each subhead is made up of a very large number of items, the recital of which would take up an undue amount of space in the book of Estimates.

These subheads have been shown in the Estimates for over fifteen years in the same form without details.
