Vol. 180 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medicinal Tablets: Licences for Free Importation.

29.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce how many licences for the free importation of medicinal tablets have been issued by him since the imposition of the duty on such tablets.

Licences for the free importation of medicinal tablets are issued by the Revenue Commissioners on my recommendation. While I have recommended the issue of a very considerable number of these licences the records kept in my Department are not in a form that would permit of the information sought by the Deputy being readily given. I understand that this also applies to the records kept by the Revenue Commissioners.

There is a very considerable number?

Some thousands.
