Vol. 180 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Eligibility of Applicants for Rehousing.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government what system is employed by local authorities in determining the number of people seeking houses and eligible for rehousing by them.

The number of persons seeking rehousing is considered by local housing authorities to correspond with the number of applications for rehousing currently before them. The eligibility of applicants for rehousing under the relevant statutory provisions is, as a rule, determined by the housing authorities on the basis of their medical officers' recommendations following investigations carried out by the medical officers or the health inspectors.
