Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 16 Nov 1966

Vol. 225 No. 7

National Loan, 1966. - Business of Dáil.

I move:

(i) That the debate on the motion for the approval of the nomination by the Taoiseach of other members of the Government if not previously brought to a conclusion shall be brought to a conclusion at 10 p.m. today by putting from the Chair forthwith the Question necessary to bring it to a conclusion; and

(ii) That the Taoiseach shall be called upon by the Chair not later than 9 p.m. to conclude the debate on the motion.

I understood it was agreed that Deputy Sweetman, on behalf of Fine Gael, and whoever is to reply on behalf of Labour would get in at fixed times. The motion only refers to the Taoiseach getting in at 9 o'clock. Perhaps we could agree that Deputy Sweetman would get in at 8.15 p.m.?

Before Deputy Cosgrave rose, I had intended saying that such an agreement had been reached and asking the House to incorporate it.

By agreement with the Whips, it has been agreed that the Chair shall call on the speaker nominated by the Labour Party not later than 7.30 p.m. and on the speaker nominated by Fine Gael not later than 8.15 p.m.

Is this an Order of the House now?

Motion, as amended, agreed to.
