Vol. 233 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Kerry Water and Sewerage Schemes.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department have received a proposal in connection with a group water supply scheme for the districts of Clahane, Ballydunlea and Tonevane, Tralee, County Kerry: and if so, if he will state the present position regarding the proposal.

A proposal for a group water supply scheme for the area in question has been received. Tralee Urban District Council have been asked for permission to tap their main as a source of supply.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a number of group water supply schemes have been held up by Kerry County Council owing to his Department's refusal to increase grants for rock excavation, etc.; and, if so, if he will now consider increasing the grants so that these schemes can be implemented.

I am not so aware. Only in one case have Kerry County Council submitted a specific proposal to my Department seeking authority to make a contribution towards the costs incurred by a group water supply scheme for rock excavation. I informed the council in August 1967 that I would not be prepared to approve of borrowing for the making of such contribution, but that I would not object to their making a contribution to the scheme in question from their own resources.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the proposal to extend piped water supply to a group scheme of houses at Ballyseedy, Tralee, County Kerry where this group scheme was erected some years ago with provision for bathroom and toilet facilities.

I have fully approved Kerry County Council's proposal for an extension of the Tralee urban water supply to Ballyseedy and I am informed by the county council that the work is at present in progress.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department have received proposals from Tralee Urban District Council to extend sewerage to Monavally, Tralee, County Kerry; and, if so, if he will give the cause of the delay in issuing sanction.

On 1st June 1965, this scheme was approved in principle by my Department and the local authority were asked to submit contract documents. No further documentation has been received in my Department. I now understand from the urban council that the work is to be carried out by direct labour.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which his Department received proposals from Tralee Urban District Council to extend sewerage to the new house erected at Racecourse Road, Tralee, County Kerry; and if he will give the cause of the delay in issuing sanction.

There are no proposals before my Department for a sewerage extension to Racecourse Road, Tralee.
