Vol. 233 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Free Travel Facilities.

52.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider extending the free travel facilities for old age pensioners to include cases where the wife or husband of an old age pensioner is not an old age pensioner.

The scheme of free travel was devised primarily for persons aged 70 and over who are receiving pensions under social welfare schemes and I do not propose to extend it to persons outside such schemes.
