Vol. 233 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Housing Grant.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government why Cork County Council have not paid a supplementary housing grant to a person (name supplied) whose income is within the statutory limit; and if he will investigate this matter.

I am informed by Cork County Council that this application was rejected because the applicant's income, as determined in accordance with the council's scheme for supplementary grant purposes, exceeded the statutory maximum.

Section 26 of the Housing Act, 1966, under which these grants are paid, provides that the determination of a housing authority of the income of a person shall be final and not appealable. In the circumstances there is nothing I can do in this case.
