Vol. 233 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Primary Education System.

4.

asked the Minister for Education is he is satisfied that the present system of compulsory primary education is effective in ensuring that all children eligible and liable for education are receiving it; and, if he is not satisfied, if he will outline the steps he proposes to take in the matter.

Following the passing of the School Attendance (Amendment) Act, 1967, I am satisfied that there is adequate provision to ensure the attendance at school of children who come within the ambit of the Act, viz. those 6-14 years of age.
