Vol. 234 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick City Higher Education.

46.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement indicating the Government's attitude to the future of higher education in Limerick city, with particular reference to the establishment of a new university and the new college of technology there.

All the recommendations in regard to university education in particular and to higher education in general which have been made by the Commission on Higher Education are at present under active consideration. Included in the recommendations are those relating to Limerick.

Can the Minister tell us when he will give a decision on these matters?

Very shortly.

Before the election.

Before the 22nd of May?

That is no consideration whatever in the matter.

I can assure the Minister that we will not fall for that in Limerick.
