Vol. 251 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Drift Net Fishing.

129.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will allow drift-net fishing for salmon at Kenmare Bay, County Kerry.

An application for permission to use drift nets for salmon in Kenmare Bay has been received. Such netting is at present prohibited by Byelaws Nos. 322, 335 and 336. Should it appear on examination that a prima facie case has been made for revision of those by-laws my next step would be to order a public inquiry into the desirability of such revision in the interests of the fisheries affected.
