Vol. 260 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Finglas West Educational Facilities.

31.

asked the Minister for Education what plans his Department have for the provision of extra educational facilities in the Finglas west area, Dublin, to cater for the increase in population in the area.

I have no information which would lead me to believe that the primary school accommodation in this area is not adequate.

Post-primary education in the Finglas west area is currently catered for by four post-primary schools:

(1) Coláiste Bráithre Pádraig, Deanstown Avenue.

(2) Meán-Scoil Mater Christi, Cappagh.

(3) Vocational School (Boys), Cappagh Road.

(4) Vocational School (Girls), Cardiffsbridge Road.

I am satisfied that these schools can cater for the demand for post-primary education in the area for some time to come. The Tolka valley area of Finglas is currently being developed and the position is being kept under review in regard to eventual post-primary education requirements arising out of this development.

I wish to give notice that I intend to raise the subject matter of Questions Nos. 27, 28 and 30 on the Adjournment.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.
