Vol. 260 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pay Rise.

79.

asked the Minister for Defence the reasons for the delay in the allocation of the 10 per cent pay rise to the armed forces.

80.

Mr. Dunne

asked the Minister for Defence why retrospective pay increases to NCOs and other members of the Army have not been implemented.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 79 and 80 together.

I would refer the Deputies to my reply to a question on this subject on the 27th of last month. No avoidable delay has occured in the processing of the proposals for increases in pay and the matter is being expedited as far as possible.

Can the Minister state at this stage the likely date when these increases will be given?

I cannot indicate a date, but I can assure the Deputy I am endeavouring to get the earliest possible decision.
