Vol. 261 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Property Development.

114.

asked the Minister for Local Government the location and total floor area of all property development projects in Dublin city sanctioned by him on appeal following a refusal of permission to develop from the local authority in the last three years.

In the period to which the Deputy refers the total number of appeals, in Dublin city, determined by me, granting, with or without conditions, permissions sought in compliance with the requirements of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, was 557. While a number of these cases would have been appeals following decisions of the planning authority to refuse permission for given developments, some would have been appeals by third parties against decisions of that authority to grant such permissions. Others would have been appeals by developers against a condition or conditions imposed as part of a decision to grant permission, while others still would have been a combination of the last two categories—that is to say an appeal by a developer against conditions together with an appeal by a third party against the decision itself.

Information is not readily available in my Department as to the number of appeals falling into the first of these categories and it would take an inordinate amount of staff time, which I consider would not be justified, to isolate and list the data sought.
