Vol. 262 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Accommodation.

44.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the shortage of national school places in the Grange/Donaghmede/ Kilbarrack areas of Dublin; and whether he has any proposals for dealing with this shortage.

The position is that when new schools at present in the course of erection and the proposed new schools which have not yet reached the building stage have been provided school accommodation will be available for over 4,000 boys and girls in this area. Every possible step is being taken to expedite the completion of the buildings in question.

45.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the shortage of national school places for boys living in the Kilmore/ Coolock area, Dublin; whether he has received a request to discuss this shortage with the local national school manager; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that certain parents wish to send their children to a particular school in which there is not accommodation for them. There is, however, ample accommodation for these children in the other schools in the district. The matter has been fully investigated by the Department and discussed with the authorities of the school in question.
