Vol. 268 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drinking Water Purification.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department have given any consideration to the use of magnesium carbonate as a coagulant for the purification of drinking waters in order to provide better quality drinking water and easier handling of sludge, in view of the recycling advantages involved.

Magnesium carbonate has not been used as a coagulant in water treatment in this country nor is my Department aware that the merits claimed for it in the Deputy's questions have been clearly established elsewhere.
