Vol. 276 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Deliveries.

49.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give an assurance that doorstep deliveries of milk will be continued in the areas where that facility is now available.

While I have no power to compel a milk distributor to deliver to customers' homes, I am aware that doorstep delivery is a facility much valued by many customers, and I would deplore its cessation. I therefore include in the maximum retail price which I allow for milk an element in respect of that part of distributors' costs which can be attributed to delivery to customers' homes. In view of this, I see no reason why doorstep deliveries should not be continued.
