Vol. 283 No. 5

Written Answers. - Offaly Old Age Pension.

264.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an old age pension has not been paid to a person (name supplied) in County Offaly who applied last February.

A claim to a contributory old age pension which was received from the person concerned on 18th March, 1975, was disallowed on the ground that he did not satisfy the contribution conditions. Following investigation as to the applicant's means the social welfare officer recommended that a non-contributory old age pension should be awarded at the maximum rate applicable in his case, £13.25 a week—£8.85 personal rate increased by £4.40 in respect of his wife—from 4th April, 1975, when he qualified for pension on age grounds. A pension order book and all arrears of pension due have been issued to him.
