Vol. 314 No. 1

Written Answers. - Galway-Mayo Roads Allocation.

317.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a priority rating between the roads leading from Headford to Ballinrobe has not been decided; the financial allocation being granted to the roads in question for 1979; when work will commence; and if it is intended to upgrade the status of either road.

The priority to be accorded to this route and the appropriate level of expenditure are within the discretion of Galway County Council. The council's resources are this year supplemented by a block grant of £618,000 which I have already notified to the council. I should add that in the light of developments since the national road network in this area was first selected, I am at present reviewing the classification of the Galway-Castlebar route.
