I am pleased to announce for the information of the Dáil,
(1) that, having informed the President of the fact that Dáil Éireann approved my nomination of Deputies to be members of the Government, the President, on 30 June 1981, appointed them accordingly;
(2) that, on the same date, I nominated Michael O'Leary to be the Tánaiste;
(3) that, on the same date, I assigned the Department of State to the members of the Government as follows:
Department of Energy — Michael O'Leary.
Department of the Environment — Peter Barry.
Department of Defence — James Tully.
Department of Fisheries and Forestry — Tom Fitzpatric.
Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare — Eileen Desmond.
Department of Finance — John Bruton.
Department of Labour and the Department of the Public Service — Liam Kavanagh.
Department of Transport and the Department of Posts and Telegraphs — Patrick Mark Cooney.
