Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Welfare Service.

531.

(Dublin North-West) asked the Minister for Health if he will agree to extend the welfare service to enable retired clergy to avail of the provision of a medical card.

The provision of medical cards is dependent on the means of applicants and not on the social welfare system. Basically, to qualify for a medical card a person must be unable without undue hardship, to provide general practitioner medical and surgical services for himself.
