Vol. 350 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sale of Killybegs Boatyard.

564.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if the conditions of sale of Killybegs boatyard by Bord Iascaigh Mhara have been complied with by subsequent owners.

565.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will confirm that an unauthorised sale of machinery from Killybegs boatyard has taken place.

566.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will outline in detail the plans that both he and his Department have for the reopening of Killybegs boatyard, County Donegal; the reasons for the delay in commencing operations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 564, 565 and 566 together.

In 1979 An Bord Iascaigh Mhara sold their interest in Killybegs boatyard to a private company by whom the conditions of sale were fully complied with apart from repayment of loan instalments in recent years. The board has recently reacquired possession of the yard and I understand they propose to offer it for sale or lease by public advertisement. I am not aware that unauthorised sales of machinery have taken place from the yard.
