Vol. 364 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Cork School.

199.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to replace the existing primary school premises in Ballinadee, County Cork, which were built in 1868 and which are now in a very bad condition; if he is aware that when the school reopened after Christmas it was found to be infested with rats; the measures being taken to ensure the health and safety of staff members and of the 93 pupils; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to the question raised on 22 January 1986 on the subject of the proposed new national school at Ballinadee, County Cork. Responsibility for the health and safety of staff members and pupils pending provision of new premises is a matter in the first instance for the school's chairman and board of management. It is expected that discussions with the school authorities will shortly take place and this matter will be among the items which will be covered.
