Vol. 369 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ballymun (Dublin) School.

117.

asked the Minister for Education if he has accepted the undoubted merits of the written and oral submissions made by the parents representatives and the local TDs on behalf of the students and teachers at Our Lady of Victories national school, Ballymun; and if he will indicate his preparedness to sanction immediately the appointment of additional teachers in order that the student teacher ratios may be brought to more reasonable and equitable levels.

I am pleased to say that Our Lady of Victories boys' and girls' schools have been selected for inclusion in the scheme of additional teaching assistance for schools serving areas of disadvantage, and have been allocated one additional teacher on a shared basis between the two schools. My Department will be writing to the school authorities shortly regarding arrangements for the appointment of this teacher.
