Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Sale of Timber.

46.

asked the Minister for Energy if it is proposed to reinvest all funds yielded by the sale of semi-mature and mature timber from State forests in replanting; if it is proposed to retain any part of such funds for any other purpose; and if he intends to proceed with the establishment of an independent semi-State body to deal with the commercial aspects of Forestry.

All funds raised in 1987 by the sale of the timber in immature non-amenity State forests will be used for the acquisition and afforestation of an extra 1,000 hectares of State forestry and other forest development expenditure.

The Government decision to establish a State board to develop the commercial aspect of forestry was announced on 26 April 1987.
