Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

68.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the tax free allowance allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary was reduced from £96 per week to £49 per week.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer's tax free allowances for 1986-87 were reduced because she had been granted erroneously excessive allowances for the previous years. Inquiries in the matter were made by a community information organisation on behalf of the taxpayer on 16 September 1986 and the position was fully explained by the inspector of taxes in his reply of 9 October 1986 to the organisation.
