Vol. 386 No. 1
asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the filling of the vacancy for school principal at St. Mary's boys' national school, St. Mary's Place, off Dorset Street, Dublin 1; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
259.
asked the Minister for Education the number of teachers to which St. Mary's boys' national school, St. Mary's Place, off Dorset Street, Dublin 1, is entitled; the actual number employed there; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 258 and 259 together.
The enrolment at this school warrants a staff of principal plus three assistant teachers. However, the school has an additional two ex-quota assistant teachers, arising out of an amalgamation concession and the school's inclusion in my Department's scheme of additional teaching assistance for schools serving disadvantaged areas. As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 21 of 8 December last, the school also has a remedial teacher.
With regard to the vacancy for a principal teacher, I understand that the school authorities are in the process of filling this vacancy in accordance with agreed procedures.
