Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Austin Deasy

Question:

80 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of an installation aid grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; the date the application was received and when approval of same was issued; and if he will arrange for immediate payment.

The application in this case was received in August 1988 and was processed by Teagasc in April 1990.

Because of the complexity of the rules set out in the EC Regulation which governs this scheme the processing of applications is inevitably a lengthy process.

However, it is hoped to have this application determined shortly. If everything is in order payment will be made as soon as possible.

Donal Carey

Question:

81 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a farm development grant, which was passed by the Ennis office on 15 January 1991.

It is hoped to have this grant paid within the next three to four weeks.

Michael Lowry

Question:

82 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a special beef premium will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary, as his file was passed by the county office almost three weeks ago.

The claim is being processed and payment will issue as soon as possible.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

83 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of farmers in County Meath who were paid a ewe premium in 1990; the number of sheep which qualified for grants in County Meath; and the number of staff in his office dealing with the Meath area.

A total of 2,001 flockowners in County Meath were paid the 1989 ewe premium in 1990 in respect of 233,730 ewes; 1,993 flockowners were paid the first two instalments of the 1990 premium in 1990 in respect of 232,779 ewes; and 71 flockowners were paid the 1990 sheep headage grants in 1990 in respect of 1,362 sheep.

There are three full-time and one part time officials in the district livestock office in Navan dealing with all livestock schemes in County Meath. Headquarters staff, both in Dublin and in headage division, Castlebar, deal with all livestock schemes nationally and collectively and their duties are not arranged on a county basis.
