Vol. 415 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Laois School.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

428 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the overcrowding at a school (details supplied) in County Laois; if he will outline the steps he proposes to take to alleviate the problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the situation in relation to the school in County Laois referred to by the Deputy. My Department have therefore, approved an extension and improvement scheme at the school comprising a standard classroom, a staff room plus a new staff toilet, a library, cloakroom and stores.

My Department are in on going consultation with the architect engaged by the school authorities as regards the detailed planning for the project.
