Question:442 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education if he proposes to introduce the provisions in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress for a reduction of the pupil-teacher ratio to 25 to 1 by September 1992.

In accordance with discussions recently concluded with the teacher unions, arrangements will be put in place which will have the effect of reducing the pupil-teacher ratio in primary schools to 25.2 to 1 by September 1992.
