Vol. 416 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rent Subsidy Payments.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

102 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline, for the north and south Lee areas respectively, the amount of rent subsidies paid by the Southern Health Board to tenants of private landlords for each of the years 1989 to 1991, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The health boards do not maintain statistical records in such a way as to provide the information requested by the Deputy.

The possibility of health boards providing more detailed statistics on the supplementary welfare allowance scheme, including a more comprehensive analysis of rent and mortgage supplementation, is currently being explored by my Department in consultation with the boards.
