Written Answers. - Stolen Car Driver's Death.

Question:

49 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the investigations which have been held into the circumstances in which a driver of a stolen car sustained fatal injuries in an accident in Cork on 20 January 1992, while being pursued by the Garda, in the course of which a member of the Garda allegedly threw a brick through the windscreen of the stolen car; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I can confirm that a full Garda investigation is in progress into the tragic incident to which the Deputy refers. A file will be prepared for the law officers in the matter.
