Vol. 424 No. 9

Written Answers. - Beef Premium Payments.

Ivan Yates

Question:

158 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the categories of farmers who will be eligible for beef premium payments in future years under the Common Agricultural Policy reform proposals, with particular reference to the 22-month payment; and whether he will extend this to a later point in the life of the steer.

With regard to the categories of farmers who will be eligible for beef premium payments, I would refer the Deputy to Council Regulation (EEC) No. 2066/92. Draft EC Commission rules which will govern the detailed implementation of the Council regulation are at present under consideration in the appropriate forum in Brussels. When these have been completed the final arrangements for the operation of the special beef premium scheme will be announced.
