Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Case Investigation.

Joe Costello

Question:

76 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice the present progress of the Garda investigation into a case (details supplied); the further involvement her Department has had in the case to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda carried out a comprehensive investigation into this case and that a file in the matter was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions who decided that no prosecution was warranted. The family concerned have been informed of this decision.

The position, in so far as my Department is concerned, with regard to other complaints of a civil and non-criminal nature, was outlined in my Private Secretary's letter of 15 July 1993 to the complainant's mother.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

77 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice if she will make a further statement concerning the report which she said will be completed in the near future in reply to Parliamentary Question No. 98 of 15 February 1994 (details supplied).

I refer the Deputy to my letter to him of 11 April 1994, in this matter.
