Smith asked the Minister for Education the additional permanent accommodation that will be provided at a school (details supplied) in County Cavan; the current stage of planning; when construction work will commence; if she will ensure that this project will proceed as quickly as possible in view of the urgent need to provide this accommodation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The school referred to by the Deputy has been included in my Department's 1995 capital building programme.
My Department expects to finalise the accommodation brief for the school within about one week. The information will then be conveyed to the school authorities. As the building project is only at preliminary planning stage, it is not possible for me to give a realistic timescale for commencement of construction work, but every effort will be made to expedite the project.
