Written Answers. - Establishment of ADM.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

63 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Taoiseach the date of the establishment of ADM; the number of applications from each county under the Operational Programme for Local Urban and Rural Development Sub-Programme two; the number approved in each county; and the allocation of funding in each county to date. [17164/95]

Area Development Management (ADM) Ltd, is a company limited by guarantee and was incorporate on 14 October, 1992. Under the Operational Programme for Local Urban and Rural Development ADM has direct responsibility for the management of Sub-Programme 2Integrated Development of Designated Disadvantaged and Other Areas. This includes the evaluation of plans from eligible communities and proposals from selected organisations, the allocation of resources in accordance with that evaluation and the monitoring of expenditure and performance.

Under the sub-programme funding is provided to:

1. —Parnerships in designated areas of disadvantage.

2. —Communities in other areas.

3. —Organisations representing or working on behalf of travellers or with the capacity to make a significant contribution to the achievement of the sub programme's objective. The areas where partnership companies will operate have been designated by Government and include urban and rural areas. Full details of the areas were laid before the Houses of Oireachtas on 10 Februaary, 1995.

The availability of funding for community groups and sectoral organisations was advertised by ADM in June 1995. Thirty-two groups have been allocated funding. Funding has not yet been allocated to sectoral organisations. The following is the information sought by the Deputy. I have no function in the asessment or allocation of funding in these cases as this is a matter entirely for the ADM Ltd:
