97 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Social Welfare the anticipated number of school leavers that may avail of the school leavers scheme operated by his Department in 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13125/96]

A total of 24,065 students applications have been received to date for the students summer jobs scheme. It is expected that close to 16,000 students will participate in the 1996 scheme.
