31 Mr. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the representations, if any, he has made on behalf of Ireland and the EU to the Government of Nigeria regarding the leaders of the Ogoni people, Currently under threat of death in jail in Nigeria. [19638/96]

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to the House of 15 October 1996 to Question No. 135 and take this opportunity to reiterate that the Government is continuing to monitor the situation in Nigeria closely.
