Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Restoration of Castle.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

166 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the plans, if any, there are to improve and renovate the historic Doe Castle, Creeslough, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22559/96]

The national monuments and historic properties service of my Department has no plans for the restoration of Doe Castle, County Donegal. Conservation work on the McSweeney tomb slab is being undertaken which will include reroofing a portion of the monument to house the tomb slab. I understand that the castle is in a good state of preservation.
